About Us

Youth Jobs Partnership at Dave & Buster's

Scranton Road Ministries Community Development Corporation, a faith-based 501(c)3 organization, exists to revitalize Cleveland neighborhoods, one life at a time, through the transformational power of the Gospel.

The Scranton Road Ministries CDC

On the edge of Cleveland’s Tremont and Clark-Fulton neighborhoods, we have an exciting, yet challenging community—one that suffers from widespread poverty and crime.  In our community:

  • 14% of adults are unemployed, a rate higher than the state and national averages.
  • 60-65% of families with children live at or below the poverty line.
  • 48% of teenagers never graduate from high school.
  • People come from more ethnic backgrounds than any other neighborhood in Ohio, according to the 2000 U.S. Census.

God has given us a wonderful position, spiritually and physically, to reach this neighborhood.  Located in the heart of the community, Scranton Road Bible Church (3095 Scranton Rd., Cleveland) houses the main offices of Scranton Road Ministries CDC.

Our programs are focused on this specific community, although our impact is rippling across Greater Cleveland.

The Scranton Road Ministries CDC

Scranton Road Ministries CDC desires to see the spiritual, economic, and physical restoration of Cleveland’s west side neighborhoods.  To make that vision a reality, we equip, support, and educate youth and families in our community, all built on the hope-giving message of Jesus Christ.

We are committed to living out Isaiah 61:3-4 among our neighbors:

To bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes,
the oil of gladness instead of mourning,
and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair.
They will be called
oaks of righteousness,
a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor.
They will rebuild the ancient ruins
and restore the places long devastated;
they will renew the ruined cities
that have been devastated for generations.

Because our God is a God of redemption, a God of restoration, we want to join Him at His work in our Cleveland neighborhood. We pray that our ministry transforms lives through the Gospel, taking those who mourn and despair, and growing them into Oaks of Righteousness.

In our long-term vision, those Oaks that we help plant and water will become pillars in the community, that will eventually “renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations.”

The Scranton Road Ministries CDC

Since its beginnings in 2001, Scranton Road Ministries CDC has provided educational and workforce development opportunities for 6,500 young people in our neighborhood, in addition to 2,000 adults.

The power of the Gospel, experienced through one-on-one relationships, forms the basis of our programs, which give members of our community the tools they need to be independent and successful in the workplace.

Our programs for youth include:

  • After School Enrichment: Between 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. each day, this program provides a place for middle school students to do homework, play in a safe place, and learn technological skills, such as Microsoft Word literacy, basic layout and graphic design, and more..
  • Youth Jobs Partnership: This in-depth mentoring program gets high schools students ready for the workforce through a combination of academic support, career skills training, and one-on-one mentoring.

Our programs for adults include:

  • Community Health Fair: Each year, this family-friendly event offers free health screenings of all kinds, as well as nutrition and wellness education and information.
  • Legal Clinic: In this unique ministry, volunteer attorneys offer educational seminars as well as one-on-one advisory sessions to educate and assist members of our community who are dealing with legal concerns.

Each program of Scranton Road Ministries CDC is based in Christ’s redemption, and focused on our vision: restoring and revitalizing the neighborhood where God has placed us.
